win 10 installation, sticky will not create default.spdb file

Documents\Sticky Passwords\ folder with database hasn't access for writing.

1) Browse to the file location as indicated in the error.

2) Right click on the file and choose Properties.

3) Select the Security tab.

4) Press the Edit… button.

5) Select your Windows user account.

6) Select the “Full control” permission.

7) Press OK until all dialogs are closed.

8) Start Sticky Password again.


SP8 doesn't run

Please navigate to the Sticky Passwords folder on your computer (with this path C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Sticky Passwords), you will find there the original of your database (default.spdb). Either rename the database file or move it to some other folder and then launch Sticky Password. You will be prompted to connect to your StickyAccount and to create a new database or download the database from cloud backups.

Choose the option of creating a new database and then import the original database using the Import feature (you will find the Import feature when you click on Menu in the upper right corner of the main interface window of Sticky Password).

After the import is completed, the favicons for web accounts should be arranged correctly.

Issue with import from Lastpass

Customers informed about the issue when not all data imports (or even nothing) were imported from Lastpass

Firefox reports that extension is not installed.

We get one report that Firefox extension is installed, enabled, but when press CB, it reports that extension is not installed.

Full reintallation of Firefox helped customer.

FF extension doesn't work

In 8.0.7 (8.0.6) appeared the issue when FF extension doesn't work (the button doesn't react on click and filling doesn't work).

Solution:

1. Open link about:preferences#privacy in FF
2. Turn on feature "Remember history"

 

It should be fixed in 8.0.8

write into Terminal;

 

defaults write com.stickypassword.Sticky-Password AppleLanguages '("en")'

defaults write com.stickypassword.Sticky-Password-Shell AppleLanguages '("en")'

 

then close Sticky Password and re-launch it.


WiFi sync - devices don't see each other.

We got several reports about the issue with WiFi synchronization.

The issue was reproduced and added the ticket https://lamantine.unfuddle.com/a#/projects/2/tickets/by_number/6683

It will be resolved in the next version 8.0.8

Solution:

Error "File is not exist"

We received report from the customer about runtime error. 

The reason of the issue was overloaded %temp% folder.

From version 8.0.8 SP displays dialog that "File is not exist" http://pix.my/ffPOGDyn 

If the customers report about this error message it's necessary to ask them to delete files what allows the system from the %temp% folder.

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp

where %username% is system variable. %temp% is also system variable with a direct link to the temporary folder. The customer should just to paste it to address line in the folder explorer window.

The issue appears when there is huge amount of files in the folder and our dll returns error. If customer deletes majority of them, it should resolve the issue. Some files can be locked by Windows. It's necessary just ignore deleting of these files.

Synchronization on proxy

Supported Dolphin browser.

There are several versions of Dolphin browser from different publishers.

We support the following version of Dolphin:

Dolphin browsers from other publishers are not currently supported by Sticky Password.

We can identify it by version or screenshot of the about window. There are different icons and versions. 27.10 version of supported Dolphin 11.5.0.12

Firefox icon is grey

When customers report that the Firefox icon is grey they have to check:

1. Extension has to be allowed.

2. Try to disable antivirus 

3. Add Sticky Password as allowed in Firewall (or try to disable it temporarily)

4. Check Proxy server settings. Proxy should not use local address. There are two ways to use proxy in Firefox:

 a) system settings in Internet Explorer

 b) network settings in Firefox

Chrome extension doesn't work.

We have several reasons of the issue.

First if all it's necessary to reinstall extension.

1. Extension was not installed with standart Windows error with Chrome.exe in header.

We are examining the issue. In this case we need dump file from the process where error occurred. It possible it's difficult for the customer do define this process. In this case we can organize online meeting and help the customer to make dump file.

 

2. Extension was not installed with error message in Chrome http://pix.my/PQdwbz

We don'e know why it occurs.

In this case we offer install extension manually from the store by the link https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sticky-password-autofill/bnfdmghkeppfadphbnkjcicejfepnbfe

Pavel P has added the ticket with request of the feature implementation on our web-site what will allow to get the error description.

 

3. The icon is grey:

We uses service spNMHost.exe for extension. We have to check whether this file was registered and run. For this we ask system info with opened Chrome and check it. 

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sticky Password\spNMHost.exe should be in Running Processes partition in the system info.

3.1. spNMHost.exe is not run.

The issue with spNMHost running.

We have to ask a customer to sent us Chrome log. It allows to understand why it wasn't run.

Please do the next to get extended information from Chrome:
1. Add parameters to Chrome shortcut: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --enable-logging --v=1
2. Run Chrome
3. Wait about 1 minute
4. Press Sticky Password Button in Chrome.
5. Open Chrome profile folder C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data and send us file chrome_debug.log

 

3.2. spNMHost.exe is run.

Ask the customer to make sure that firewall doesn't lock SP

And send us screenshot of Console in Chrome:


1. Click on the Sticky Password icon in the upper right corner of your Google Chrome browser
2. Navigate to the Google Chrome menu - More tools - Extensions in your Google Chrome browser
3. Check the "Developer mode" option in the upper part of the opened page
4. Press the "Inspect views: spBackground.html" link next to the Sticky Password Autofill Engine
5. Take a screenshot of the opened Console tab

Proxy server uses local addresses.

Solution: In Windows Internet Properties check setting "Bypass proxy server for local addresses".

Some application locks Web socket what SP uses for connection to extension.

It should be some antivirus, firewall, some advertising blockers like Ad Munch.

sgx_capable.dll issue

Customers with Vista and XP got issue with sgx_capable.dll with version 8.0.12.127

We will fix the issue in the next version. But now we can offer this version with the fix:

DPI issue with 8.0.12.127

Customers reported about issue with shifted fonts after update to versions 8.0.12.127

How I reproduced and resolved the issue on my laptop:

I have the issue if change DPI on Custom scaling setting. There http://pix.my/ya5uHE I manually entered 125 and saved settings. Fonts were shifted.

If I cleared this setting and set this one to DPI 125% http://pix.my/HnoCj0 SP displays fonts good.

 

So, as a solution customers should use this setting for DPI increasing http://pix.my/HnoCj0

Custom scaling setting should be empty http://pix.my/ya5uHE

 

1) Please check the Display settings on your Windows Control panel as on the following screenshot:

2) Under Scale and layout select Custom scaling. Do you have any value inserted there? If yes, please delete it.

Import data with CSV file

Unfortunately the import from _______ is not supported directly by Sticky Password, however since the program is able to export the data in CSV file, it should be possible to process the import into Sticky Password. Each exported CSV file has a different format. It should be possible to format the exported CSV file as a file exported from LastPass and then use our LastPass import feature on Windows to import the data.

The format of the CSV file should be the following:

url,username,password,extra,name,grouping,fav

Example:
https://accounts.google.com,testlogin1,password1,comment1,accounts.google.com,group,0

extra - comment of the account
fav - this value is not used

You can use a spreadsheet application (like MS Excel) to make the changes more smoothly. The Import feature can then be found by clicking on Menu in the upper right corner of the main interface window of Sticky Password -> Import -> Other password managers and applications -> LastPass -> select the CSV file and after confirming the data will be imported.
